London
Shannon Frederick is a Solicitor Graduate Apprentice (Trainee Solicitor) in our Public Law and Human Rights department, based in our London office.
Professional Biography
Shannon's academic journey began at the University of Bristol, where she graduated with a degree in History in 2021. Driven by her passion for law, Shannon further pursued her studies at the University of Law, where she obtained a Master of Arts in Law qualification in 2022. Since joining Simpson Millar in January 2023, Shannon has quickly progressed from her initial role as a Paralegal to a Trainee Solicitor in the Public Law team as of October 2023. She is currently completing her apprenticeship training contract and is set to qualify as a Solicitor in January 2026.
In her day-to-day role, Shannon is involved in a wide range of cases, supporting the team in challenging local and central government through Judicial Review on behalf of victims of trafficking, addressing age assessment challenges (verifying the ages of individuals when documentation is lacking or disputed), and handling community care cases. Her work focuses on advocating for vulnerable adults, unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors, and young individuals who have experienced challenges within the care system.
Before joining Simpson Millar, Shannon engaged in several campaigning and policy roles with charitable organisations dedicated to fighting institutionalised discrimination and supporting disadvantaged minority groups. Her commitment to social justice was further evidenced during her Law master's studies, where she actively participated in the University of Law’s Family pro bono advice clinic. These experiences deepened Shannon’s interest in human rights, social welfare, and public law, ultimately leading her to join Simpson Millar’s Public Law and Human Rights team.
