Solicitor, Medical Negligence
Manchester
Emily Roberts is a Solicitor in our Medical Negligence department, based in our Manchester office.
Professional Biography
Emily completed her Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree at the University of Central Lancashire in 2012 and went on to obtain her Legal Practice Course (LPC) qualification from the University of Law, Manchester, graduating in 2014. She was admitted as a Solicitor in October 2023.
Before joining Simpson Millar, Emily gained significant experience in the medical field by working for over five years with a Professor of Oncology, who worked as an expert witness (a professional who combines knowledge of both medicine and law to provide expertise in legal cases involving medical issues, such as malpractice and injury assessments). During this time, she assisted in the preparation of medico-legal (relating to both medicine and law, especially in terms of legal cases involving medical practice or healthcare issues) reports for cancer cases, which provided her with an understanding of medical issues related to litigation.
Emily originally started her journey at Simpson Millar in October 2020 as a Legal Claims Handler in the First Response team, where she handled initial Clinical Negligence enquiries and assessed varied cases. After a year in this role, she began her training contract in October 2021, working in various departments including the Clinical Negligence department, the Risk & Compliance department assisting our complaints manager, and the Industrial Disease team.
Upon completing her training and qualifying as a Solicitor, Emily took a three-month sabbatical to travel through South East Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, enriching her personal and professional perspective. She returned to Simpson Millar in January 2024, to continue her work to achieve the best outcomes for her clients, ensuring they receive diligent and informed legal support throughout their cases.
In her day-to-day role, Emily manages her own caseload, focusing on providing legal services to clients affected by Medical Negligence.
