Professional Biography
Ameeta graduated from the University of Hull with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), achieving a 2.1 in 2018. She then went on to complete her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP Law School in Leeds, finishing with a Commendation grade in 2019.
Joining Simpson Millar in October 2019 as a Legal Assistant, Ameeta demonstrated her commitment and capability in the legal field, as she progressed to a Paralegal role in July 2020 and further advanced to become a Trainee Solicitor in October 2021. She qualified as a Solicitor in October 2023.
Throughout her time at Simpson Millar, Ameeta has developed a diverse range of legal skills and experience. During her training contract, she worked in various departments, including Public Law and Human Rights, where she assisted with inquests and claims against public authorities. She also contributed significantly to the Education department, focusing on representing parents in Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Tribunal matters, and helping Solicitors with judicial review and disability discrimination claims.
During her time as a paralegal, Ameeta worked in the Child Care Proceedings department on a variety of public and private law cases. The majority of these cases included representing vulnerable clients where social workers had become involved with the family.
In her current role, Ameeta's primary focus is on representing parents in care proceedings and during the pre-proceedings (PLO) process. Her expertise extends to handling private children proceedings, addressing complex issues around child custody and contact arrangements, and representing clients in domestic abuse proceedings, where she provides empathetic and effective legal support to her clients.

She is known for her empathetic approach, particularly when dealing with sensitive cases involving children and families. Her skill in handling complicated legal matters, combined with her ability to be compassionate and understanding, ensures that clients feel supported and well-represented throughout their legal journey.
